Owning software is different than other types of ownership because software, which is often distributed on media such as CDs, is not a physical commodity but instead it is considered an intellectual property. The exact definition of intellectual property is in anything that can have a patent or a copyright. The ownership of such property is controlled by license agreements, which are legal documents describing the proper use and distribution software as intended by the distributing manufacturer.

Maven's success is based on establishing and maintaining professional relationships with the software manufacturers that are used to help support our clients. In order to maintain this relationship, Maven prides itself by not supporting any illegal reproduction or distribution of software applications in order to provide the software manufacturers with the revenue necessary to continue producing software applications legitimate users depend on.

While most companies are well aware that copying copyrighted software illegally is considered piracy but they may not realize that even possession of software that has been illegally copied is considered piracy. The most common example is when companies copy software without appropriate licensing for each copy and also do not strictly monitor the number of software licenses they install and do not acquire enough licenses to cover their software installations.

As part of our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), our technicians and consultants are not authorized to perform any work on illegally licensed equipment and are also not permitted to install or configure illegally acquired software. Maven requires that each enterprise acquire legitimate licenses for each software product. By not complying with this requirement, Maven has the strict right to refuse its services in order to comply with copyright laws and also to demonstrate the severity of software piracy to its clients. If for any reason, your company has a doubt regarding the validity of the licensing of the software that it's using, please contact or have Maven contact on your behalf, the software manufacturer in order to validate your license.
